The incident took place around 7:15 a.m., Monday, March 27 when a Westport Public Schools student reported receiving the post, making them feel concerned about attending school, said Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police.
Officers responded to the student's home and immediately identified the source of the post, Woods said. Working with the school resource officer and the Detective Bureau, the department was able to identify the person responsible.
Working in concert with the schools and investigators, officers were sent to each school to offer a sense of protection until they were able to locate the responsible party, Woods said.
By 8 a.m., Monday, officers located the person who sent the post and determined there was no threat, Woods added.
"I'm sure parents were wondering what police were doing at each school and we wanted to get the word out that everything is under control," Woods told Daily Voice.
